Child Abuse Prevention Domestic and Sexual Violence

Child Abuse Prevention Domestic and Sexual Violence

It is a fundamental human right to be free from abuse and not to fear being abused in (your) relationships. These are the rights of everyone, including the most vulnerable in our society – women, children, the elderly and people with disabilities.

Unfortunately, even though Canada has very strict laws that guarantee the safety and dignity of each one, family violence continues to be a serious problem in the society of this country, especially violence against women.

The abuse can be physical, sexual, emotional, psychological, verbal or financial. (Forcing someone to participate in sexual activities without the consent of the person is considered rape or sexual assault, and is illegal even when it occurs between husband and wife.)
