A small island, almost guzzled by the ocean, is inhabited by Loïc, who resists to leave the remainder of what once was his home.
A glance at a moment in life we usually do not want to think about… when everything has changed and everyone has left. Memories and fears mix, and they are the anchor that keeps him on the island.
Even from the driest branch a flower can grow.
“Loïc” is a sensitive tale about loneliness, fears, grief, and social abandonment.
The show explores the loneliness of the elderly. Can you continue to celebrate life when you are alone? Is the simple fact of living cause for celebration?
Accessibility: The live component of this session will be presented with auto-generated English captions.
This mostly wordless pre-recorded performance is 45 minutes long followed by a live artist talkback and audience Q&A (available in English and Spanish).
Best suited for adult and youth audiences.
A Bit About the Artists:
Albert Garcia Martinez & Aitana Giralt Boira: After working together on different theater shows, they decide to start a process of creating together to explore the world of puppets and tell a story from the point of view of emotions and sensations, with loneliness as a starting point. At the end of 2017, they started working together with other colleagues to present a first creation of the show “Loïc” at the “Fira de titelles de Lleida” in May 2018. The creation and research continues until 2021, after collaborating with the “Cia Zero en coducta”. And they premiere the final version of the show “Loïc” at the “Festival OFF des marionnettes de Charleville”.
