El Grito: Mexican Independence Day Celebration. Saturday, September 15 at 4 PM – 9 PM at Mount Royal University Ross Glen Hall 4825 Mount Royal Gate SW, Calgary, AB T3E6K6, Calgary. Free Family Oriented Event open to everyone. Live Music, Dance Performances, Mexican Food. Casa Mexico in Alberta Foundation presents Mexican Fiesta offering entertainment and activities for all ages. Traditional dances, Mexican singers, workshops, contests, children activities, mariachi and Mexican food are some of the activities included this great event.
You should know that September 15th is the biggest Mexican celebration in Mexico, celebrating Mexico’s independence from the Spain. Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico’s Independence Day. 5 de Mayo commemorates the Mexican Army’s unlikely victory over the better-armed French Empire at the Battle of Puebla. Only a battle? Yes! Only in the last 10 years has 5 de Mayo become big mainly in the US and now in Canada. We love all celebrations, any excuse to eat Mexican food and have a Fiesta!
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to joining us for an evening where you will have the opportunity to taste authentic Mexican style food.
