These and many other fights make this a super stacked card which won’t fail to entertain.
Alvin Tam vs Jesus Perez
The main event showcases a classic Mexican/ Philippine rivalry like the ones with the great Manny Pacquiao and his famous battles against Barrera, Morales and of course Marquez. Dekada has a well respected relationship working with Mexican agents and fighters who appreciate our hospitality when they come to fight.
The main event is a 6 round lightweight battle between Jesus “Diamanté” Perez of Sinaloa vs Alvin “Baby Faced Assasin” Tam of Philippines.
Jesus is known as a journeyman who is capable and willing to travel the world and fight in his opponent’s hometowns. His ability is better than his record as he has often lost fights he deserved to win. He is El Flaco, the thin explosive man. Good boxer and big heart with power in both hands. Jesus dubbed this fight as “A War Without Mercy.”
Alvin comes from The Igorot tribe. They were the only people of the Philippines that weren’t defeated in the Spanish invasion and a proud people. He is in the same tribe as Marvin Somodio, Freddie Roach’s assistant at Wildcard Boxing in Hollywood. Alvin is an all action fighter who comes for the knockout in every fight. He too fought on the road and was given losses he deserved as victories. Alvin is a former WBC Asian champion and will be returning to boxing against Perez after two years away. Alvin’s style is exciting and reminiscent of the great Mexican fighters like Barrera, Marquez and more!
Janks Trotter vs Albert Onolunose
Janks is a power puncher with all victories coming by KO. Albert is a former number 10 world rated boxer with 21-1 record. Albert returns to boxing after 4 yrs to take on the very dangerous puncher in Trotter. This is an 8 round middleweight fight.
Jennifer Neal vs Kandi Wyatt Women’s boxing in Canada produces some of the worlds top female boxers. Jennifer makes her pro debut in October but was brought up in the Quebec system of boxing which is the strongest in the country. Her amateur record is 23-3. Kandi is a rising star in Dekada. Her return to boxing on June 24 gained almost 15000 views on social media after the video was released. Kandi is a skilled boxer with power and remains unbeaten as a pro at 3-0. This bout contested over 4 rounds in the female jr welterweight division.
Anton Tokarchuk vs Dwayne Lewis
Anton is a 6’7 215 lbs specimen. He’s a world class athlete and currently competes in MMA but makes the transition to boxing with Dekada. Dwayne Lewis was a superstar in MMA from an Edmonton based promotion but he too has already transitioned successfully to boxing with 2 straight KO’s. Two MMA fighters in
heavyweight boxing action over 4 rounds. Justin Sluchinski vs Gwyn Lewis Justin had a brief amateur background but has already built a 1-1 pro record. His loss came to a highly touted prospect who remains undefeated. Gwyn is a Colombian/ Englishman with a solid amateur background including national experience and looks to make a successful pro debut in this 4 round jr welterweight fight Trenton Rowell vs Zach Manywounds. As is the latest trend with MMA fighters making transitions into boxing, Dekada promoter and matchmaker Michael Short started this in 2008. Trenton defeated Zach on the ground in their first meeting in MMA. Zach has a much stronger standing game and brings a 1-0 boxing record with a first round KO into this match up. Zach is a proud member of the Tsuu Tina First Nations tribe west of Calgary. This is a catchweight fight at 185 lbs over 4 rounds.
Dekada has showcased Mexican fighters and the culture since its inception in 2015. We highlight the athletes like never before on the road and always pay homage to the country with live singing for the national anthem from Erika Campos, a local singer. Dekada has also showcased a mariachi band and has future plans involving the attendance of luchadores accompanying Perez. Boxing is a big sport in Mexico and Dekada wants to give the Calgary Latin community their chance to experience a piece of home.
